Cleaner, Healthier Air at Home

We spend most of our time indoors, and the air inside can hold more dust, allergens and smoke particles than you'd expect. Your heating and cooling system moves all of that air through your home every day — which makes it the best place to clean it.

We'll look at your home, your system and what's bothering you, then recommend practical upgrades that make a real difference — no gimmicks, no overselling.

What Affects Air in the Treasure Valley

Wildfire Smoke

Summer and fall smoke carries fine particles that slip indoors through doors, windows and gaps.

Winter Inversions

Cold air traps pollution low in the valley for days at a time, lowering air quality inside and out.

Dust & Pollen

Farmland, construction and dry summers keep dust and seasonal pollen in the air.

Dry Winter Air

Idaho's dry climate plus furnace heat can leave air uncomfortably dry all winter.

Indoor Air Quality Solutions

High-Efficiency Filtration

Upgraded media filters capture far more fine dust, pollen and smoke particles than standard filters — every time your system runs.

Best for: Wildfire smoke, dust and allergies.

Whole-Home Air Purifiers

Purification installed in your ductwork treats the air for the entire house — no portable units to move from room to room.

Best for: Odors, allergens and overall cleaner air.

Whole-Home Humidifiers

Adds the right amount of moisture back into dry winter air through your furnace — no refilling tabletop humidifiers.

Best for: Dry skin, static shocks and dry sinuses.

Ventilation Solutions

Brings in fresh outdoor air in a controlled, efficient way — especially helpful in newer, tightly sealed homes.

Best for: Stuffy rooms and lingering odors.

Ready for Smoke Season

When wildfire smoke settles over the valley, your HVAC system can be your first line of defense. With the right filter and setup, it can keep cleaning your air even with the windows shut tight.

  • Upgrade to a MERV 13 filter if your system allows
  • Run the fan to keep air moving through the filter
  • Keep doors and windows closed on smoky days
  • Check and change filters more often

Not All Air Filters Are Equal

Filters are rated by MERV — the higher the number, the smaller the particles they catch. Here's the difference an upgrade can make:

Basic Filter

Thin Fiberglass

MERV 1–4
  • Mainly protects the equipment
  • Catches larger dust and lint
  • Lets most smoke and fine particles through
Upgraded Filter

Pleated Media

MERV 11–13
  • Captures fine dust, pollen and pet dander
  • MERV 13 captures many smoke particles
  • Cleaner air every time the system runs
Higher isn't always better for every system

A filter that's too restrictive can reduce airflow and strain some systems. We'll check your equipment and recommend the best filter it can safely handle — or a media cabinet that allows better filtration without the airflow penalty.

Indoor Air Quality FAQs

Will a better filter help with wildfire smoke?

Yes. A MERV 13 filter captures many of the fine particles in wildfire smoke, as long as your system can handle it. Running your system's fan helps keep air moving through the filter on smoky days.

How often should I change my air filter?

Most 1-inch filters should be checked monthly and replaced every 1–3 months. Thicker media filters often last longer. During smoke season or heavy dust, check and change filters more often.

Do I need a whole-home humidifier in Idaho?

Many Treasure Valley homes benefit from one. Our dry climate combined with winter heating can leave indoor air very dry, which can cause dry skin, static shocks and irritated sinuses. A whole-home humidifier adds moisture automatically through your furnace.

Will a high-MERV filter hurt my system?

It can on some systems. A filter that's too restrictive reduces airflow, which can affect comfort and strain equipment. We'll check your system and recommend the right filter or a media cabinet that allows better filtration safely.

Are whole-home air purifiers worth it?

For many homes — especially with allergies, pets or smoke concerns — yes. They treat the air throughout the house without portable units. We'll give you an honest recommendation based on what you're dealing with.
