Ductless Systems
What Is a Mini-Split System, and Is It Right for Your Home?
A ductless mini-split heats and cools a space without any ductwork. It is one of the simplest ways to bring comfort to a room your central system does not reach, or to give different parts of your home their own temperature control.

How It Works
Heating and Cooling Without Ducts
A mini-split has two main parts: an outdoor unit and one or more indoor units, usually mounted high on a wall. A small line set carrying refrigerant and power connects them through a hole about three inches wide, so there is no ductwork to install.
Most mini-splits are heat pumps, which means the same system cools in summer and heats in winter. Each indoor unit has its own controls, so you only condition the rooms you are using.
- Heats and cools from one system
- No ductwork needed, so installs are less invasive
- Each room or zone gets its own temperature setting

FAQ
Common Questions About Mini-Splits
Do mini-splits heat as well as cool?
Most do. Nearly all mini-splits sold today are heat pumps, so the same system provides cooling in summer and heating in winter.
Can one outdoor unit serve more than one room?
Yes. A multi-zone system connects one outdoor unit to several indoor units, each with its own controls. We will recommend the right setup based on the rooms you want to condition.
Is a mini-split better than central air?
It depends on the home. Mini-splits are ideal for single rooms, additions and homes without ducts. Central air is often more practical for conditioning a whole house that already has good ductwork.
How do I maintain a mini-split?
Rinse or vacuum the indoor unit filters every month or two, keep the outdoor unit clear of debris, and schedule professional maintenance once a year.
Can I finance a mini-split system?
Yes. ACFLEX offers monthly payment options on new systems. Visit our Financing page to check your options in a few minutes with no impact to your credit score.
